2025 Reflections
2025 was the year I finally began experimenting with features other than basic words in poems. I gained some inspiration after taking a course as Summer@Brown which discussed how poetry can be visually appealing. In "And I Can't Even Tell", which was published on my school's magazine, I attempted using different font sizes and font colors to further transform the delivery of the poem. While writing these poems, I realized how I preferred to break certain lines based on how I imagined them to be spoken. I think this habit is reflective of how my sister used to make me watch spoken poetry videos with her. Poetry seemed like a combination of all the things I loved– speaking, drawing, writing, and reading. I love how free the medium is, so much that everything could find company in its arms.
2025 was when I really started experimenting with the structure of how poems were written. I really enjoyed this process because it brought an additional visual element into the poetry writing process.
