Comfort Spaces: A Collection

Starting junior year I began concentrating my visual arts trail of thought on the idea of comfort spaces. What are some areas that we innately feel safe in? What possible associations could contribute to this nostalgic feeling?

To answer those questions, I felt determined to look at my own experiences first. If I chose to portray those feelings into an abstract entity, reflective of how I saw myself, how would that portray my own coming of age? Are these emotions part of the artwork itself or is it an effect you gain after viewing it?

In this collection, I wanted to encapsulate more than anything, a love story. There's a lingering fondness that nestles by your cheek whenever you think of these spaces. There's a brief warmth next to your shoulder when you remember those memories. There's a gentleness, engrained within every inch of your comfort space, so that no matter how many tears you shed or fits you throw, you'll be hopelessly drawn back to the place that will hold your hand. I want to show you mine.
